General Information
The County Civil/Small Claims Division is located on the second floor of the Hernando County Government Center-Judicial Wing. The telephone number is (352) 540-6445. Business hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Small Claims cannot exceed $5,000.00, exclusive of costs. Claims in excess of $5,000.00 but less than $15,000.00 are handled by the County Civil Division. Although the Clerk can assist you with forms for Small Claims, they cannot assist you with claims in excess of $5,000.00. We recommend that you retain an attorney for those claims due to the complexity of filing. Claims exceeding the jurisdictional limit of $15,000.00 are handled in Circuit Court.
